Alright, so it’s the day after and I have to say… the episode wasn’t that bad.
I still stand by my Britney statements. She was out of place and stiff. The whole thing seemed as if they didn’t have the heart to tell her to do another take, so whatever they got they went, “Awesome. Good job Brit!” and moved on.
Now I want to point out that I’m not saying that just to bash Britney. She does (or did) have talent. She could sing fairly well, and she could dance. But she can’t act. Sorry but them’s the beans. I appreciate you like the show, but maybe you should just watch it rather then having them shoehorn you into it.
With that out of the way, I still like the episode.
Yes like Joel said in his review, a lot of the stuff that happened that was sitcommy, but honestly I didn’t think about it that way until he pointed it out, so I don’t feel it counts. If, as I’m watching the episode, I don’t notice how corny it is, and it’s not until a reviewer points it out, I don’t count that against the show. If they can sneak things like reading a self-help book to impress a girl only to find out she thinks the books is lame in there, and I don’t notice it until the next day, well good for them.
I think Sarah really saved this episode and that her and Josh Radnor did have good chemistry. And I liked the 2 minute date. It was totally something Ted would do, and having a call back joke with Ranjit the cab driver was icing on the cake.
Over all the good out weighed the bad, making what should have been a bad episode into, well a decent one at least.
Oh, and Manos over Plan 9 From Outer Space. Hands (ha!) down.
